More hints and conclusions of the contents of the Familia Tree

The current comic Page_0244 hints at more of the family tree. If both the head of Industriaglobo is dead along with Maria Cruz, the chairwoman of Banco Imperial is dead, and both affect the line of succession, we can conclude:

  1. both are positions held by members of the current royal family direct line of succession
  2. both were children of either emperor cruz, or "Emperor Cruz's Father" (as he is designated on this template)
  3. they were both either the last survivors (other than the emperor) in the direct line of succession, or very close to the last in that line.
  4. this could only affect Fernando if that branch is terminated without an heir, and his branch is next in line
  5. Assuming his mother is still alive, she is either not eligible for the line of succession by marriage (women holding the title are apparently not prohibited, as is implied by the death of Maria Cruz), or she is also deceased (we know his father is dead, killed as a traitor).
  6. He is the eldest sibling, or sole offspring of his parents.

This has impacts on the tree in the following ways:

  • Point 2 should be represented somewhere on this chart, although I can understand if we hold off until we know who's offspring they are (point 3)
  • Point 5 (the death of his father) should be represented on the chart, with the word "deceased" below the name. In fact, we should note all known deceased members of the tree, as that is common practice in plotting family trees whenever you are mixing living and deceased members at the same time. This should include "Emperor Cruz's Father", and all previous emperors (if they were alive, they would still be emperors unless they abdicated, and I think we can safely assume anyone north of osvaldo are deceased)
  • since we know the birth year of Fernando (2387-) this should represented in the tree as well

I do believe that Dave has stated previously that the shorts are to be considered canon, which is why I feel we should include that data here. Does anyone know if User:Ret Samys is available to make updates to the image?

Discuss.

Very nice! I should add this:
  • Point 2: It's also possible that they were Manuel José Cruz's siblings. Right? Emperor Cruz's father might have been the oldest sibling, and with him out of the way (in one way or another), power falls to Emperor Cruz. (The same would apply for 'Nando's father if he wasn't a "traitor", is my guess - which could mean that 'Nando is the very last option due to his father's position?)
Now, that would mean that they're quite old, but they're called "a coupla senior folks" on Page 0171.
  • Point 5: I think we can safely assume that 'Nando's mother is still alive. Page 0127 I assume that she's not eligible because she married into the family.
Sure, I'll add the birth dates we know and the deaths (even though personally, I'm not 100% convinced that 'Nando's father is dead =) but we'll see).
Feel free to make edits yourself. The template is not an image, it uses wikipedia's family tree template, which I've always found to be very useful. But consider me available!
The Tales of the Drive being canon is the one thing I can't find! I would consider some of those guest stories to be canon to a certain degree, but I haven't seen Dave telling us that they're actually canon. In fact, I read this blog post as them not being canon ("'Tales of the Drive' will all be stand-alone stories", "all of it is just meant to be fun", "sandbox"), while "filling out [...] the universe".
But of course we can talk about any of those points, I'd be happy to be taught otherwise.

Explaining the family tree

Since this is a template, adding references might not be the best idea to show how I came to the conclusions I did.

1st Generation

Page 0001 Consists of then-senior project engineer Conrado Cruz and a presumed wife.

2nd Generation

Page 0001 Consists of Conrado's 5 children, including Pablo's father, as mentioned in Page 0005. Arguably, none of them became emperor, because Pablo did and Conrado didn't trust Pablo's father enough.

3rd Generation

Page 0005 Conrado's grandchild Pablo was emperor, it's mentioned several times. Page 0059 Page 0183 Page 0009 Page 0082 Page 0155

4th Generation

Page 0183 Pablo's cruel son Osvaldo was emperor. Page 0167

5th Generation

It is unclear how many steps down the family tree goes after Osvaldo - or what kind of path it takes.

6th Generation

Page 0109 Emperor Manuel José Cruz is the first Familia member we know about after Osvaldo. Since Manuel José Cruz is Emperor Cruz's uncle Page 0035 Page 0011 Page 0081 Emperor Cruz's father must have been his brother (unless "uncle" is used more broadly, like on Page 0019 or "nephew" on Page 0156).

7th Generation

Since Manuel José Cruz is 'Nando's grandfather Page 0055, one of 'Nando's parents must be his child. That would be 'Nando's father Page 0127. And of course, there's Emperor Cruz (see 6th Generation).

8th Generation

This is the current generation, consisting of 'Nando in the line of succession.
