Transcript

  • Fernando: But I don't understand. If you can reach the joy of heaven with your mind, why would you ever wanna... stay here?
  • Nameless Sill: Our prophet found an effortless door to the great Quiet, for the Sill. But we found that others in our empire were... not so blessed. So some of us chose to stay in the noise, and help them.
  • Taneel: Ah. Like a buddhist bodhisattva, on Earth.
  • Nameless Sill: As our great empire collapsed, thousands of monks took to the stars in hold ships... seeking out species we might teach!
  • Nameless Sill: Though sadly, as our numbers shrunk with each generation, we... lost... the ability to pilot those ships.
... So we remain here, waiting for pilgrims to come to us.
  • Cuddow: And do they come?
  • Nameless Sill: They do come, yes! My monks and I have taught many. Though... none have stepped away from the noise.
  • Nosh: Perhaps it only works for Sill.
  • Nameless Sill: No! No! I am sure I could teach your telepath. This mind of his!
If anything, he could show me beautiful new vistas in the Quiet, if I but taught him the path.
  • Cuddow: It's actually he that brought us here, ma'am. We are seeking his people, and have word that they've travelled with your monks, centuries ago.
  • Nameless Sill: Possibly! With their gifts, they would be master teachers.
  • Taneel: Good! Yes! So you've seen them before???
  • Nameless Sill: His mind is like nothing I have ever felt. So I say this with surety...
  • Nameless Sill: I have never seen his kind before.
