Fernando 'Nando Cruz (2387-) is the 14-year-old head of engineering aboard the Machito[1]. He is a member of La Familia - grandson to the previous Emperor, Manuel Jose Cruz, and nephew to the current Emperor Cruz. It is implied on Page 0105 and Page 0127 that he is the true heir to the throne, and on the latter it is implied that his father, ostensibly a traitor, was killed to make way for the current Emperor. He served on the Sevillana for about a year, before Captain Taneel was relieved of command, after which he began serving on the Machito.
