  • Nat: [off-screen] You must be a pretty big fan to come up here, huh?
  • [sign says "Tesskan War Victory Monument
Try the sammiches at our topside Victory Café"]
  • Kari: I'm sorry?
  • Nat: A fan! Of the Tesskan war! Usually only the real keeners buy the "Victory, lettuce and tomato."
  • Kari: Oh, I'm not a fan of the war. I'm a researcher. A reporter.
  • Nat: Oh my gosh! Put me in your article!
  • Kari: I'm not writing an article. Not anymore.
  • Nat: Oh. Well, I did. For class! Tough to find good sources, huh?
  • Kari: You're telling me. I had big ideas of writing an expose on how the war really ended, but there's literally zero credible information. And everyone involved in the war is either dead, not talking, or both. We're at the top of the war monument, for crying out loud, and most of the plaques here just talk up how you should really try the café's sammiches.
So when I realized, hey, maybe that's why nobody else has written my story either, I thought I'd grab lunch and find some other story to work on.
  • Nat: Oh.
  • Kari: I was going to eat alone.
  • Nat: Oh, I don't mind.
  • Nat: So hey, you want to hear the real story of the Tesskan war? I had a specieal source because my grandpa was involved, and even though everything was super classified, he wrote things down and then he died before I was born but I found his papers when I was snooping around, and then I ate them so nobody else could ever read them, and once you hear my story you'll understand why!
  • Kari: ...
I'm gonna hear this story no matter what, aren't I?
  • Nat: Yep!
