While I'm sure Makers understand how the Drive works, I do wonder whether the Fillipods' knowledge is as deep as you might assume from Cuddow's statement that they already know how it works. On [[Page 0005]], Conrado explains that he does not know how the Drive works, despite being able to reverse-engineer it and such. He doesn't, however, actually understand ''what'' it does. I wonder whether the Fillipods' understanding of the Drive mirrors the humans': they got it from an alien race and can reverse-engineer and build it, but they don't really get its inner workings.
